#37 Micah (the Goalie)
After a number of failed attempts to get Micah to enjoy (ie: sit through) baseball games, I decided
to take a six-year old Micah to a Phoenix Coyotes game. Instead of begging to get snacks, visit the gift shop, or leave, Micah sat glued to the action on the ice, asking questions about what had just happened, what each penalty meant, what the positions on the ice were…he was HOOKED.
Within a couple weeks, Micah was signed up for Learn to Skate/Learn to Play Hockey classes…then Mini-Mites…then Cross-Ice Mites, where his coach gave him the opportunity to play goal. Micah has never looked back–he has never left the net. Over three years of travel hockey later, Micah has become a strong goalie–and continues to develop and get stronger, not just on the ice, but off as well, thanks to the skills and friendships he’s made through his youth hockey experience.
Here’s how you can help….
1) Chip in any amount by clicking the ‘ChipIn’ tool, or;
2) Buy or sponsor a seat at our “Holdem Poker Night” on Nov. 13th. (I want to play, but I’m not sure 9-year olds are allowed at the table).
